The eldest son of Dr Alan Lam and our implant Dentist.  Joining the team in 2012. Michael has a wealth of experience from working at previous dental practices across the North East, including a Dental Implant Referral centre and also completing Dental Foundation Training.  His main dental passion is implant dentistry with a certificate from the British Academy of Implant and Restorative Dentistry.​

Born in Sunderland, Michael attended Emmanuel College in Gateshead from 2000 to 2007 before graduating from Newcastle University Dental School in 2012.

 

Beyond his professional life, he aspires to travel the world and has a keen interest in sports such as Formula 1, Premier League football, and the NFL. He also enjoys skiing and snowboarding during the winter months and is an avid climber, frequenting the bouldering centre weekly.

In addition to his clinical role, Michael serves as a director of Lam Dental Care Limited and Alan Lam Family Dental Practice Limited, contributing to the management and strategic direction of the family-run practice.

Dr. Jonathan Lam, commonly known as Jonny, is a dedicated dentist at Lam Dental Care, a family-run practice established in 1987 in Chester-Le-Street, County Durham. He is the younger son of the practice's founder, Dr. Alan Lam. After graduating from Newcastle University Dental School in 2013, Jonathan joined the family practice, where he has been providing high-quality dental care to patients ever since.

Beyond his professional commitments, Jonathan is an active musician, often performing at various open-mic nights around Newcastle. He is also a family man with two daughters and enjoys playing basketball on weekends.

​

In addition to his clinical role, Jonathan serves as a director of Lam Dental Care Limited, contributing to the management and strategic direction of the practice.

Lam Dental Care has been proudly serving the community for over 37 years, focusing on providing high-quality care to a loyal patient base.

Lisa Nicholson is a registered Dental Nurse at Lam Dental Care. She began her career as a trainee nurse in 1992, working full time until 2003, when she transitioned to part time to start her family.

Lilly was born in 2003 and then Harry in 2009. Lilly has had work experience with us and is currently in her final year of becoming a paramedic, whilst Harry is doing his final year of school giving Lisa much more flexibility with her working hours.
She enjoys watching Newcastle United whenever possible is a keen walker and cyclist and a regular visitor to the theatre.

 

Lisa is an exceptional dental nurse who plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dental practice, providing essential support to our dentists while delivering excellent patient care. She is compassionate, reassuring, and able to put patients at ease, particularly those who experience dental anxiety.

 

She communicates clearly and professionally, ensuring patients understand procedures and feel comfortable throughout their visit.Lisa's long-term commitment to Lam Dental Care for over 30 years highlights her dedication to both her patients and her colleagues.

She has progressed in her carer whist at Lam Dental Care and is our co-decontamination lead. She is responsible for ensuring that all instruments, equipment, and clinical environments meet strict hygiene and sterilisation standards. Her role is crucial in preventing cross-infection and maintaining compliance with infection control regulations, such as those set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Gillian Short is a registered Dental Nurse at Lam Dental Care and serves as both a Dental Nurse, Implant Nurse and Decontamination Lead.

 

She began her career with the practice as a Youth Training Scheme (YTS) participant in 1987, transitioning to a full-time role until 1993.After a hiatus to raise her son, Gillian rejoined the team in 2004, bringing her extensive experience and dedication to patient care.

 

She has progressed in her carer whilst at Lam Dental Care and is our Implant Nurse. She plays a vital role in ensuring your dental implant journey is smooth, comfortable, and successful. From your initial consultation to post-treatment care.

We are delighted to welcome Jillian Raw to the Lam Dental Care team as one of our Dental Nurses.

​

Jillian is an experienced and dedicated dental nurse who is passionate about providing excellent patient care and helping patients feel relaxed and comfortable throughout their visit.

 

She enjoys supporting our dentists to ensure every appointment runs smoothly while creating a welcoming and reassuring environment for all our patients.

​

Jillian understands that visiting the dentist can sometimes feel daunting, particularly for nervous patients, and takes pride in offering a calm, caring and compassionate approach. Her friendly nature and attention to detail help patients feel at ease from the moment they arrive.

​

As part of the Lam Dental Care team, Jillian is committed to maintaining the highest standards of patient care, cross-infection control and professional development. She enjoys working closely with her colleagues to ensure every patient receives the excellent care that Lam Dental Care is known for.

Outside of work, Jillian enjoys spending time with family and friends and making the most of her free time.

Holly Lam has recently joined Lam Dental Care as the Practice Manager.

 

She originally began her career in Teaching, as a secondary school Psychology Teacher but since having her two daughters she opted for a career change.  

 

She has a passion for delivering high-quality patient care. Holly's role involves overseeing the daily operations of the practice, ensuring that both administrative functions and patient care meet the highest standards.
